The purpose of this meeting was to receive a purebred registered bloodhound puppy that has been donated to the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office. This donation is an addition to the K-9 Division and will be assigned to Sergeant Jack Wilkens. The primary duties of this K-9 are for search and rescue of missing children and challenged adults. The puppy is 8 weeks old and will be trained by Sgt. Wilkens and other volunteers from the community.

This process started in 2008 and Otsego County was one of 5 Sheriff’s Offices in NYS to receive a bloodhound though this program. Bloodhounds are donated throughout the United States and delivered to perspective law enforcement agency. Our k-9 was delivered by Hilary Sessions who transported the animal via airlines from Florida to NY.
